The refurbishment of Westdene Barn is moving towards completion as we speak!
With an accessible ramp installed, improvements to the outside paving area and plans to tarmac the path we are hoping that external works will provide a better experience for all who access The Barn.
A huge shout out to GT Contractors who in addition to working tirelessly inside the barn constructing new walls and doorways, plastering and structural work, have secured a free kitchen and doors from Howdens, glass from the Fascia Place and free plasterboard for the ceiling from Covers.
Thanks to Mark Streeter and his 'community payback team' a number of chunky jobs have been completed, helping us move the project on. Thanks also to local contractor Woodhart who lent us Aiden to make all the cupboards in the barn.
Lastly, we haven't forgotten the amazing work of our wonderful community volunteers!
There is still some painting, tiling and finishing to do in the barn so we are calling volunteers from our community to help us finish the job. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you can help!
We would like to sincerely thank our sponsors who are currently supporting the refurbishment of The Barn in various ways. From supplying materials, to providing labour for free and cost price goods - we really appreciate your help!
Thanks are also due to the following who went above and beyond to help our community hold on to this amazing resource:
- Rolli Rigliani from Egg Design for the plans
- Robert Warren for genius idea of putting the kitchen where it is including a window
- Helli from Suntrader for plumbing and advice
- Richard Purcell from RJP Electrics on the electrics and lighting
- Chris Thompson who last week did our fab mural (spot the local windmill!)
