Safety inspection We are having to close the Barn to all activities with immediate effect following an inspection of the front wall by a Council structural engineer.
Findings He carefully inspected the wall, which has developed a distinct inwards bow, and went into the loft to investigate further. His opinion was that, left to its own devices, the wall will fail and that there is no way of knowing when that will be. If it failed the result could be catastrophic – both in terms of possible risks to life and limb and to the remaining structure of the Barn.
What’s next? The Council is working with us on a temporary solution which will involve installing ceiling supports. The actual work involved in doing this is not lengthy but scheduling it will depend on Council reactive maintenance staff or contractor availability. We are hoping the work will be carried out as soon as possible.
In the meantime In the meantime we are talking to other local venues and will hope to provide a space for the activities booked in to the Barn.
Apologies for any inconvenience this development causes and please bear with us
