HIRE THE BARN FAQs
There is a ramp to the front door and the toilet has facilities for the disabled. For evening events when it is dark you may wish to consider placing someone with a torch at the end of the access path. Once they get nearer the Barn, the outside lighting will see them in safely
Children’s parties and one off events
I’d like to hold my child’s birthday party at the Barn
The Barn is available for adult-supervised parties for pre-teens. There is one 3.5 hour pre-teen party slot available most Saturdays which can start any time between 12 noon and 2pm so that the party is over by 5.30pm at the latest.
Do you have tables and chairs available?
Yes. There are 6 x circular, 4ft diameter tables, 4 x 6ft x 2ft6 tables and 30 stackable chairs. You are welcome to use these inside the Barn.
Do you provide catering, entertainers, bouncy castles etc.
No. There is a small kitchen with microwave oven, fridge and kettle for your use. We do not accept bookings for pre-teen parties that include the use of amplified music or bouncy castles on the Green outside the Barn
How long is the standard hire for children’s parties?
3.5 hours. This includes setting up and clearing up afterwards
I’m expecting lots of people, what is the capacity?
The Barn is not huge! Although the main room has a standing capacity of 100, this will feel cramped for a meeting. The main room comfortably sits 40-50, theatre style. If you wish to set the room out cabaret style using the large round tables between 30-40 will be a comfortable maximum. It is essential to keep the fire door clear.
Can I book for an evening meeting?
Yes. The Barn is used regularly in the evenings so check availability on the calendar
Regular events and activities
I am a Fitness Coach and wish to run regular sessions, what support can you give me?
We will meet you on site to understand your needs and look for a suitable slot for your sessions. We will explain how you can use our free publicity resources to promote the sessions (noticeboard, social media, newsletters).
I want to run regular sessions but I’m not sure whether it will attract sufficient numbers, how can you help?
In some circumstances, we will subsidise hire for taster sessions. We can help with promotion.
I have an idea for a voluntary community club – can I base it at the Barn?
We’re keen to offer a range of clubs for local people. If you can get together a team of volunteers to run one, we will support you with publicity and special hire rates
Do you have wifi and PA?
We have a small PA system but no wi-fi
