MEET OUR STEERING GROUP
Our Steering Group helps keep Friends of Westdene Green and The Barn running smoothly. We're a friendly bunch who meet four times a year and often in between times to carry out our various activities. If you have ideas, skills, experience, and a little time to give, we would love to hear from you [email protected]

"I am a retired civil servant and have lived next to the green since 1987. I am currently a Director and Treasurer of FOWG. In addition I am part of the unpaid team that look after our community asset." Jessica Jetmore
"Since moving to Westdene and starting a family I have been keen to support and be involved with our local community - it’s a wonderful privilege to live here and get to know our neighbours. It’s so great that we such an asset as the Barn and a fantastic group of people supporting it - in a time where it can be easy to feel disconnected it’s so vital that we can find that connection in our communities, and this feels like such a hub from which to create this! “I’m so pleased that the Barn has succeeded in bringing people together! I get a huge amount of enjoyment helping to book activities and clubs into the space and hearing how they thrive. Organising Musical Midsummer and helping out with other community events is also a lot of fun.” More about hiring the Barn here Rebecca Luff
"I work in the world of social & community business and tried to keep my nose out locally until our community asset, The Barn was threatened at the end of 2015. I'm so proud of our neighbours for stepping up and showing the world how important our sense of connection and belonging is. With The Barn sitting pretty on Westdene Green at the heart of our community, 'all we need to do now' is keep it there!" Tony Gove
"Having retired recently, I was looking for local volunteering opportunities. The Barn is a fantastic way to bring people together in the community, and I am helping in a small way to keep it going by updating the website and helping with the hire process." |

"I have very much enjoyed coordinating the Get Together to Eat Together lunch club. So I have always felt myself to be part of the team, as being part of my community is an essential part of life for me. As a therapist and a cooking teacher, I am always looking for opportunities to bring people together and enhance well being through sharing good food with one another, building a sense of delicious community!" Brian Jenkins
"I haven't lived in the area very long, however, being part of the Steering Committee allows me to support the community within my capabilities. In return, this gives me a great sense of belonging and acceptance, allows me to meet new friends and take an active part in social activities." |
