HIRE THE BARN

Together we raised £20,000 towards refurbishing The Barn, half of which was donated by local people. Thank you to you all!  
We have been again fundraising to get the Barn warm - Ready for Winter and are happy to announce that we have raised enough through the Raffle and recent fundraisers to start work.  With a new ceiling put in it was evident that the existing loft insulation was inadequate. Although much of it was salvaged we need to purchase and lay much more insulation to make the building more heat efficient. With no gas available in the barn and the cost of running it to the barn prohibitively expensive, we will be using electric radiators linked to a general thermostat which can be programmed on a weekly basis. We also will install a fan to circulate the hot air around the main room. With the new door, glass panelling and a new insulated wall,  we hope to keep the large room warmer through the winter months.  We have been quoted about £400 from Travis Perkins for new insulation and hope to get volunteers to lay it. Please let us know if you can spare some hours to do this!   Four new heaters for the main room along wth two fan heaters in the bathroom and smaller room will complete the heating and we expect the total to be in the region of £1,000 - £1,400. 
Finally - for those of you who might be wondering - we did look into solar energy (PV) but due to the shading of the room at optimum times of the day, plus the current state of the roof (precarious), this was not a viable option.
